WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Calif.) for reelection in California's 32nd Congressional District, citing his longstanding leadership on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, defense of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and commitment to protecting humanitarian assistance and advancing American national security through international engagement.
Representing California's San Fernando Valley since 1997, Sherman is a senior leader on the House Foreign Affairs and Financial Services committees. Throughout his career, he has consistently advocated for diplomatic institutions, vulnerable populations, and effective foreign assistance.
Sherman has strongly defended USAID's vital role in national security and regional stability. Opposing efforts to dissolve the agency in February 2025, he warned, “President Trump's efforts to dissolve USAID aren't just illegal, they risk America's security, prosperity, and the health of our families.”
Sherman has consistently backed foreign assistance through legislative action. He voted against both the June 2025 Rescissions Act, which cut international development funding, and the fiscal year 2027 State Department appropriations bill. Additionally, in January 2026, he co-introduced the Evan Anzoo Memorial Act to direct a GAO review of deaths linked to the dismantling of USAID programs, emphasizing oversight and transparency.
