WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed Congressman Derek Tran (D-Calif.) for reelection in California's 45th Congressional District.
The endorsement honors Tran's staunch defense of international assistance, steadfast support for Ukraine, unwavering advocacy for human rights and press freedom, and commitment to U.S. national security.
As an Army veteran and the son of Vietnamese refugees, Tran brings firsthand experience and deep insight into global security, democratic values, and supporting communities facing conflict and repression.
Before entering Congress, Tran served eight years in uniform and advocated for families as a consumer rights attorney. He currently serves on the House Armed Services and Small Business committees, where he is Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations, and Regulations.
In June 2025, Tran voted against the Rescissions Act to protect nearly $9 billion in essential global aid, directly championing A4AL’s mission to uphold international stability and support democratic allies. The following year, he voted for the June 2026 Ukraine Support Act, securing critical defense and reconstruction funding for Ukraine while imposing strict sanctions on Russia. Together, these votes highlight his steadfast commitment to safeguarding national security, standing with global partners, and confronting foreign aggression.
