WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed Congressman Eugene Vindman (D-Va.) for reelection in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, citing his defense of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), support for humanitarian assistance, and commitment to American national security and international partnerships.
A former U.S. Army colonel with 25 years of military service, Vindman brings extensive national-security experience to Congress. His career included service as an infantry officer, Judge Advocate General attorney, and deputy legal advisor on the White House National Security Council. Before his election to Congress, Vindman also worked on a State Department-funded initiative investigating Russian war crimes in Ukraine.
Vindman has consistently opposed efforts to dismantle USAID and cut foreign aid. He defended the agency at its headquarters, joined a legal brief challenging its dismantling, and voted against the Rescissions Act of 2025.
To improve humanitarian resource management, he cosponsored the SUPPLIES Act to ensure unused foreign-assistance supplies are preserved and responsibly distributed.
Additionally, through his positions on the House Armed Services and Agriculture Committees, Vindman emphasizes the vital connection between global food security and national security.
“Congressman Vindman understands from firsthand experience that American national security depends on strong alliances, effective diplomacy, and sustained international engagement,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “His military service, work supporting accountability for war crimes, and efforts to protect humanitarian assistance reflect the connection between American leadership abroad and the security of our communities at home. His commitment to preserving critical development programs and supporting our international partners aligns with A4AL's mission.”
