WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens, today endorsed Congressman Mike Quigley (D-Ill.) for reelection in Illinois’s 5th Congressional District, citing his record of supporting international development, global education, humanitarian assistance, and American partnerships abroad.
As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, including its Subcommittee on National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs, Quigley has participated in congressional decisions concerning funding for U.S. foreign-policy priorities. His record includes support for programs such as the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and international climate initiatives.
Quigley has also supported investments in education as a component of international development. In March 2023, he joined congressional colleagues in urging robust funding for USAID's bilateral basic-education programs, the Global Partnership for Education, and Education Cannot Wait as part of the fiscal year 2024 State and Foreign Operations appropriations process. These initiatives focus on expanding educational opportunities for children, including those affected by poverty, conflict, and humanitarian emergencies.
Through his work on appropriations, global health, education, and international security, Quigley has maintained a record of engagement with programs and partnerships that support U.S. foreign-policy objectives. His endorsement reflects A4AL's emphasis on the role of congressional leadership in sustaining effective international assistance and diplomacy.
“Congressman Quigley has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to American leadership through diplomacy, development, and international cooperation,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “From supporting global health and education to advocating for Ukraine and our international partners, his record reflects the importance of maintaining America's diplomatic and humanitarian capabilities. His work on the Appropriations Committee also underscores the role Congress plays in sustaining these investments.”
