WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed Congressman Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) for reelection in California's 17th Congressional District, citing his leadership in defending the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), advocating for stronger foreign-assistance programs, and advancing an American foreign policy grounded in diplomacy, human rights, and humanitarian responsibility.
Representing Silicon Valley since 2017, Khanna is a leading voice on foreign policy, economic opportunity, tech innovation, and responsible foreign engagement. As a House Armed Services Committee member, he emphasizes diplomacy, congressional oversight, and international cooperation.
“The United States can and should be a driving force around the world for freedom, human rights, and peace,” Khanna has stated in outlining his foreign-policy priorities.
Khanna has consistently defended USAID and supported foreign assistance. In 2025, he publicly opposed efforts to reduce USAID funding and voted against the Rescissions Act, which cut critical development and humanitarian resources. He later opposed the fiscal year 2027 State Department appropriations bill in opposition to its reduced funding model.
Khanna has also called for greater accountability regarding the dismantling of USAID. In June 2026, he urged congressional scrutiny of the decisions that disrupted the agency's operations and reduced American foreign assistance, arguing that policymakers must confront the humanitarian consequences of those actions.
“Congressman Ro Khanna understands that American leadership must be guided by both strategic interests and a commitment to human dignity,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “His defense of USAID, advocacy for increased foreign assistance, and commitment to diplomacy demonstrate why humanitarian engagement is essential to America's role in the world. A4AL is proud to endorse his continued leadership in Congress.”
