WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens, today endorsed Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (D-Va.) for reelection in Virginia’s 4th Congressional District, citing her commitment to restoring the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), protecting humanitarian assistance, and strengthening American national security through diplomacy and international cooperation.

McClellan has opposed reductions to international assistance and the dismantling of USAID. She cosponsored the Protect U.S. National Security Act to preserve USAID's independence and opposed the Rescissions Act of 2025.

In her endorsement questionnaire, McClellan reaffirmed her support for diplomacy and humanitarian aid, noting that robust international assistance directly protects U.S. national security interests.

McClellan also highlighted the economic and institutional benefits of international assistance for Virginia's Fourth District. Virginia State University has partnered with USAID on agricultural development initiatives in South Sudan and East Africa, connecting the expertise of Virginia researchers with international development needs. McClellan also reported that USAID funding cuts resulted in ChildFund International losing two awards totaling $6.8 million for programs supporting vulnerable children and humanitarian assistance.

“Congresswoman McClellan understands that American leadership abroad strengthens our communities at home,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “Her commitment to restoring USAID, defending humanitarian programs, and protecting investments in global health and development reflects the connection between humanitarian leadership and national security. From supporting Virginia institutions engaged in international development to advocating for stronger partnerships abroad, her record demonstrates why sustained American engagement matters.”
