WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed Congresswoman Jill Tokuda (D-Hawaiʻi) for reelection in Hawaiʻi's 2nd Congressional District, citing her leadership in protecting foreign-assistance programs, strengthening U.S. partnerships in the Indo-Pacific, and advancing humanitarian and development priorities.
Representing rural and suburban Oʻahu and the Neighbor Islands, Tokuda uses her positions on the House Armed Services Committee and Select Committee on the CCP to champion Indo-Pacific regional cooperation, international development, and climate resilience. She has consistently defended USAID and voted against the Rescissions Act of 2025 to protect vital global aid and humanitarian funding.
“Slashing foreign aid abandons vulnerable communities abroad, while ceding ground to adversaries like China and Russia,” Tokuda said in a July 2025 statement opposing the rescissions legislation.
As a cosponsor of the BLUE Pacific Act, Tokuda supports expanding U.S. engagement with Pacific Island nations through enhanced diplomatic ties, development funding, and climate resilience initiatives tailored to regional priorities. “We cannot lead and succeed without our allies and partners, especially those in the Pacific Islands region who tell us time and again that their greatest threat is climate change and what it means for their people,” Tokuda said.
“Congresswoman Tokuda understands that American leadership in the Indo-Pacific depends on more than military strength. It requires sustained diplomacy, meaningful partnerships, and development assistance that addresses the needs of our allies and neighbors,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “Her defense of USAID, commitment to Pacific Island communities, and recognition of the national-security importance of humanitarian assistance reflect the principles at the heart of A4AL's mission. We are proud to support her continued leadership in Congress.”
