WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) for reelection in Washington's 7th Congressional District, citing her longstanding commitment to global public health, defense of foreign-assistance funding, and advocacy for humanitarian programs that protect vulnerable communities around the world.
Representing Seattle and surrounding communities since 2017, Jayapal brings extensive global development experience from her pre-congressional work in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. As a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and member of the Malaria, Hunger, and Refugee Caucuses, she has consistently advocated for foreign assistance, global health, and humanitarian relief.
In Congress, Jayapal opposed the administration's 2025 stop-work order on international assistance, voted against the Rescissions Act of 2025, and opposed foreign operations cuts in the fiscal year 2027 State and Foreign Operations appropriations bill.
“Let me be clear: Congress and Congress alone has the power to appropriate funding,” Jayapal said in a June 2025 statement criticizing the rescissions package.
As Chair Emerita of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and a member of the House Judiciary and Budget Committees, Jayapal has combined her international development experience with legislative leadership on government accountability, immigration, and economic opportunity.
“Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal brings a depth of experience in global health and international development that is especially valuable at a time when America's humanitarian commitments face significant challenges,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “Her work in communities around the world, defense of foreign-assistance funding, and commitment to protecting vulnerable populations demonstrate why sustained American engagement matters. She understands that effective development assistance saves lives, strengthens communities, and advances American leadership through meaningful international partnerships.”
