WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth (D-Md.) for reelection in Maryland's 3rd Congressional District.
The endorsement recognizes Elfreth's opposition to reductions in international assistance, her defense of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), her support for Ukraine, and her commitment to protecting Congress's constitutional responsibilities in matters of federal spending and national security.
Elfreth has been an outspoken critic of efforts to reduce international assistance and dismantle federal institutions responsible for implementing congressionally authorized programs. In June 2025, she voted against the Rescissions Act, which withdrew previously approved funding for international assistance and public broadcasting. Explaining her opposition, Elfreth emphasized the humanitarian consequences of eliminating resources for programs that protect vulnerable populations.
“These funds support critical programs that prevent AIDS, feed millions worldwide, and bring beloved and award-winning public broadcasting to homes across this nation,” Elfreth stated.
Elfreth's opposition to the rescissions legislation reflected broader concerns about reductions affecting USAID and other federal programs. Her office has publicly highlighted her repeated criticism of cuts to the agency and the consequences of reducing America's international assistance capabilities.
“Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth understands that America's leadership in the world depends on maintaining the institutions and partnerships that protect lives, promote stability, and strengthen our national security,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “Her defense of USAID, opposition to cuts in humanitarian assistance, and commitment to congressional accountability reflect the kind of leadership needed to sustain America's diplomatic and development capabilities. A4AL is proud to endorse her reelection to Congress.”
