WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens, today endorsed Congresswoman Veronica Escobar (D-Texas) for reelection in Texas’s 16th Congressional District, citing her support for restoring the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), protecting humanitarian assistance, and strengthening American leadership through diplomacy and international partnerships.

Escobar, who represents El Paso and surrounding communities, has advocated for maintaining American foreign-assistance programs and preserving the United States' capacity to respond to humanitarian crises. In her A4AL endorsement questionnaire, she reaffirmed her commitment to restoring USAID, protecting robust funding for the agency, and opposing legislation that reduces international assistance.

“I believe America’s leadership in the world must reflect our commitment to human dignity, human rights, and the protection of innocent lives,” Escobar wrote in her questionnaire. “The United States has both a moral responsibility and a national interest in addressing humanitarian crises, alleviating suffering, and working with our international partners to promote stability and opportunity.”

Escobar opposed the Rescissions Act of 2025 and continues to call for fully restoring USAID and its funding.

For El Paso, international assistance aligns with local needs: effective diplomacy and development mitigate root causes of migration like poverty and violence, fostering regional stability and trade.

“Congresswoman Escobar understands that American leadership abroad has real consequences for communities here at home,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “Representing El Paso, she recognizes the connection between international development, regional stability, economic opportunity, and border security. Her commitment to restoring USAID, protecting humanitarian assistance, and addressing the conditions that drive conflict and displacement reflects the kind of leadership our coalition seeks in Congress. A4AL is proud to endorse her for reelection.”
