WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens, today endorsed Dan Koh, the Democratic nominee for Congress in Massachusetts’s 6th Congressional District, citing his commitment to restoring the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), expanding international assistance, and strengthening American national security through diplomacy and global partnerships.

Koh, a former senior official in the Biden White House and former chief of staff to Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, brings experience in federal and local government to his congressional campaign. In his A4AL endorsement questionnaire, Koh pledged to publicly advocate for restoring USAID and protecting robust funding for the agency. He also committed to A4AL's Two Penny Pledge, supporting the allocation of at least 2% of the federal budget to diplomacy and development.

“My Catholic faith teaches that we are called to care for the least among us, and that obligation does not stop at our borders,” Koh wrote in his questionnaire. “Gutting this funding is not fiscal prudence, it is a moral abdication, and I am going to fight relentlessly to restore it.”

Koh has also emphasized the role of foreign assistance in preventing instability and countering strategic competitors. In his questionnaire, he argued that investments in food security, stable governance, and economic development can reduce the conditions that contribute to extremism and conflict while strengthening relationships with American allies and partners. He identified China's expanding international infrastructure and development activities as an additional reason for sustained American engagement.

“Dan Koh understands that American leadership abroad is inseparable from our security, economic interests, and humanitarian responsibilities,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “His experience in the White House gives him firsthand insight into how diplomacy and development strengthen alliances, prevent crises, and protect American interests. His commitment to restoring USAID, increasing investments in international assistance, and supporting the Massachusetts workers and organizations engaged in global development reflects the priorities our coalition advocates.”
