WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed Dr. Amish Shah, the Democratic nominee for Congress in Arizona's 1st Congressional District, citing his background in public health, record of bipartisan legislative leadership, and experience addressing complex challenges through evidence-based policymaking.
A board-certified emergency physician and former Arizona State Representative, Shah combines hands-on medical expertise with a proven legislative record focused on healthcare access, education, and government accountability.
Shah earned his M.D. from Northwestern University and an M.P.H. from UC Berkeley. His clinical and public health background gives him firsthand insight into health-system vulnerabilities, disease prevention, and humanitarian crisis response.
In the Arizona House (2019–2024), Shah built a reputation for pragmatic leadership, successfully passing legislation across party lines in a divided government. His background links public health directly to economic resilience and national security.
Shah has also emphasized the importance of responsible government and international stability. During an October 2026 congressional debate, he expressed concern about Iran's nuclear ambitions and criticized the administration's diplomatic approach, pointing to regional instability and the consequences of escalating conflict.
“Dr. Amish Shah brings an important perspective to Congress at a time when public health, international stability, and effective government are increasingly interconnected,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “His experience as an emergency physician, his public health training, and his record of working across political divisions demonstrate the value of practical, evidence-based leadership. We believe that experience can contribute meaningfully to conversations about America's role in addressing global health challenges, strengthening international cooperation, and advancing policies that protect human lives.”
