WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed U.S. Senator Ed Markey (D-Mass.) for reelection, citing his longstanding leadership in protecting international humanitarian programs, defending global public health funding, and advancing a foreign policy grounded in diplomacy, human rights, and international cooperation.
During his four decades in Congress including his tenure on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Markey has consistently advocated for robust U.S. global engagement, humanitarian aid, and development policy.
He has repeatedly fought cuts to international assistance, notably opposing the July 2025 Rescissions Act that revoked billions in foreign aid and public health funding.
“And by gutting global public health programs, they’re abandoning vulnerable populations around the world,” Markey said in a July 2025 statement opposing the legislation.
Markey has also consistently advocated for humanitarian assistance in conflict zones. During the 2024 national-security supplemental debate, he championed roughly $9 billion in lifesaving aid for civilians in Gaza, Sudan, Burma, and other crisis-affected regions.
Markey remains a steadfast champion of transatlantic security, Ukraine's sovereignty, and international alliances. He also leads on global climate action, nuclear nonproliferation, and human rights advancing a foreign policy rooted in diplomacy, prevention, and principled global engagement.
