WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed U.S. Senator Jim Risch (R-Idaho) for reelection, recognizing his leadership on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, commitment to strengthening American national security, and support for targeted global health initiatives that protect American interests and vulnerable populations around the world.

Representing Idaho in the U.S. Senate since 2009, Risch serves as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where he shapes oversight of U.S. diplomacy, national security, and international programs. In 2021, he co-introduced bipartisan legislation to strengthen global health security architecture, international coordination, and USAID's assistance role.

“We've known since the beginning of this pandemic, we will never be fully secure at home if we allow this disease to run rampant abroad,” Risch said in a 2021 statement discussing international health security.

As Chairman, Risch has pushed to reform foreign assistance to improve accountability and efficiency, supporting institutional consolidations and targeted funding rescissions while continuing to back critical global health programs like PEPFAR, the President's Malaria Initiative, and polio eradication efforts.

“Senator Jim Risch brings extensive foreign-policy experience and a clear understanding of the relationship between American national security and effective international engagement,” said Asher Moss, founder and executive director of the Alliance for American Leadership. “His leadership on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, bipartisan work on global health security, and recognition of the importance of lifesaving disease-prevention programs demonstrate areas where responsible international assistance can serve both American interests and humanitarian needs. A4AL is proud to endorse his continued leadership in the United States Senate.”
