The Alliance for American Leadership today endorsed Rep. Lateefah Simon (D-Calif.) for reelection in California's 12th Congressional District, citing her record of defending foreign assistance and calling for renewed American humanitarian leadership.

Simon has consistently opposed foreign aid cuts, pledging in her A4AL questionnaire to advocate for restoring USAID and protecting its funding. On the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, she has examined how closing USAID impacts global public health and U.S. security.

In July, Simon voted against the FY2027 State and Foreign Operations spending bill, warning that aid cuts endanger global health and security while advocating for a foreign policy focused on diplomacy and peace.

"Our global humanitarian relationship — from nutrition assistance, to global health, to life saving support for refugees — is our greatest strength," Simon wrote in her A4AL endorsement questionnaire. "We must commit to rebuilding U.S. global humanitarian leadership."
