WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Alliance for American Leadership (A4AL), a bipartisan coalition of 150,000 veterans, students, and citizens today endorsed William Lawrence for Congress in Michigan’s 7th Congressional District, citing his support for international assistance, humanitarian leadership, diplomacy, and investments that strengthen American workers and national security.

Lawrence expressed support for international assistance as both a humanitarian responsibility and an investment in American interests. He also backed locally led development programs and said he generally opposes congressional earmarks in foreign assistance while preserving flexibility for cases where targeted funding may be appropriate.

“Personally, I believe that all human life is sacred and no person should be left behind,” Lawrence wrote in his A4AL questionnaire. “America should be a leader in embodying this principle through its humanitarian leadership.”

Lawrence also emphasizes that international assistance directly benefits Michigan's economy by expanding overseas markets for state exports, boosting demand for local agricultural products, and supporting skilled jobs across Michigan. “International assistance strengthens U.S. national security by fostering goodwill in our relationships with countries around the globe,” Lawrence wrote. “In order to achieve productive cooperations and not simply co-existence, we must extend a helping hand whenever possible to others in need.” He added that stronger international relationships can increase America's diplomatic partnerships while also strengthening the domestic economy.
